Technical Graphics I

This course will introduce students to the fundamental of architectural drawing and drafting, and model making.  Students will acquire skill in the use of drafting equipment and the application of architectural symbols.  

Technical Graphics II

This course builds on basic technical graphic skills through the introduction of computer-aided drafting, primarily by use of AutoCAD 2016.  The class will be taught through a combination of lecture instruction and lab activities to introduce the student to computer-based design.  This will include a basic understanding of the software tools and applications to further develop the student’s design skills and presentation methods

 

Technical Graphics III

This course builds on basic technical graphic skills through the introduction of computer-aided drafting, primarily by use of Revit 2016 and SketchUp Pro.  The class will be taught through a combination of lecture instruction and lab activities to introduce the student to computer-based design, 3-D modeling, and rendering software.  This will include a basic understanding of the software tools and applications to further develop the student’s design skills and presentation methods.

 

Course Goals
To establish a thorough comprehension of the technical aspects of architectural drafting & proper use of drafting equipment.
To prepare a concise set of construction documents by the application of various drafting techniques and drawing conventions.
To establish the techniques of an architectural lettering style.
To refine skills required for quick sketches to convey ideas or visions.
To foster a knowledge of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional drafting techniques.
To analyze, interpret and apply drafting skills to various types of plans, interior elevations, wall and building sections, details, schedules, obliques, one point perspectives, and two point perspectives.

 

 

Course Goals
Students will apply a variety of communication techniques and technologies appropriate to a range of purposes and audiences.  This course will introduce computer-based technical drafting using AutoCAD 2016.  Basic principles of 2-dimensional drafting will be taught, along with the various accessory and support tools necessary to have a commanding knowledge of the software. Skills acquired in this course should help to develop a design solution based on proportional and spatial relationships learned through digital representation.
  
Students will be able to utilize software application AutoCAD 2016 to create and develop a 2-dimensional environment capable of displaying specific design intent.  The student will learn the basic user interface of the program and its application in terms of artistic representation of a design solution.
